Surveys for monitoring the effects of interventions on the ecosystem

As part of action D1 “Monitoring the impact of project actions”, monitoring of the Carabid beetles in the heathlands of Pratomagno started in June. The Carabids are considered excellent environmental indicators because their ecology and taxonomy is relatively well known and above all react quickly and sensitively to natural changes or induced by human activity.
Sampling takes place using the catch method through the placement of fall-traps. The monitoring, carried out by the researcher Roberta Berretti of the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences of the University of Turin (DISAFA), takes about 20 days and takes place through the control of 120 traps placed in 30 points, falling between restoration of the rehabilitation and control areas.
The monitoring will end in October and there will be 6 steps for the observation and collection of captured samples.
